Marketing your products and getting patronage first starts from within, then the quality and standard of your product. People would not patronize you if within you there are no extraordinary marketing skills. Your appearance and attitude towards customers determines how much patronage you will earn and a quality product sells itself, it doesn’t need much marketing.

HOW CAN I BE GOOD AT MARKETING?
One best way to make a good first impression is to smile. Put on a compulsory smile, even if you are having a bad day, just put on a smile. Action speaks louder than words and a smile says, ‘I like you. You make me happy. I am glad to see you. Also, be friendly. Begin in a friendly way.

As a good marketer, you have to dress nicely; it is the beauty in you or your attractiveness that draws more customers.
Imagine how much men the beauty of just one employee at an eatery can invite. They probably don’t want to buy but they are compelled to because of just one beauty they sighted in that eatery.
How you look defines your product. Always look presentable.
- BE A GOOD CONVERSATIONALIST.
Always say less. When you talk too much, you are most likely to say something foolish. Be a good listener; encourage them to talk about their ideas or what they think about their products. Show respect for their opinions. Never say ‘you’re wrong’.
- LEARN TO HANDLE COMPLAINTS.
When a customer is making complaints about your product, either in a calm or aggressive way, try not to get angry and raise your voice, be Quiet, let the customer talk to his/her satisfaction, then you try calming that customer down and take responsibility, don’t try passing blames, if you are wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically. Accept your faults and give a positive and warm reply. They’d keep coming back.
- ALWAYS MAKE YOUR CUSTOMER FEEL IMPORTANT AND DO IT SINCERELY.
Do not always talks about your profit, always talk about what they stand to gain using your products or buying your goods. Most times they end up buying above their budget. If possible try knowing customers name and also remembering their names. A person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language. Try addressing them by their names and see the result.
- DO NOT TRY ENGAGING IN ARGUMENTS.
One best way to win people to your way of thinking is not by engaging in arguments with them. The best way to win an argument is to avoid it. As wise as Old Ben Franklin used to say ‘If you argue and rankle and contradict, you may achieve a victory sometimes, but it will be an empty victory because you will never get your opponents goodwill. Win through actions and never through Arguments.
